Entrepreneurship in technology intensive areas inclusive of Biotechnology has very few takers owing to added technology risks in addition to the existing risks for entrepreneurship. Hence, incubation for technopreneurship has been of immense concern, especially, since the socio-economic benefits of technopreneurship are well established. Technology Business Incubators dealing in sciences with longer gestation and higher capital investments (such as Biotechnology), need greater dedication and continued support. Similarly, the potential stakeholders i.e. probable incubatees in such areas are also fewer and need greater incentives & support to be inducted in these areas.

STBI has launched one of its kinds ‘Idea Doodle Lab’ series under its Pre-Incubation Program. The series is meant for innovators/technology enthusiasts/entrepreneurs having an innovative idea or a product with commercial potential which is yet not ready for the market and needs further validation. Pre-incubation stage relates to the overall activities needed to support the potential Biotechnopreneurs in developing business idea, business model and business plan, to boost the chances to arrive to an effective start-up creation.

This program is ideal if you:                                    

• Want to validate your idea from customer/users perspective.
• Want to obtain a good understanding of your target market.
• Want to assess market potential of your idea.
• Want support to understand about how to go about validating your market, problems and solutions.
• Want a facilitating environment to conceptualize your idea.
• Want an access to an interactive platform to help you with expert feedbacks.

This program is an opportunity to test/validate your idea with access to infrastructure equipped with basic instrumentation facilities, hand holding and guidance from mentors and experts of relevant field.

Successful candidate gets a chance to enroll in 120 Days Pre-Incubation Programme, extendable to 60 Days @ STBI. Through this program you will get access to shared lab/office space, Common Instrumentation Facility and mentor network with nominal charges. By the end of pre-incubation program i.e. 120/180 days, if you are able to develop a potential project proposal of commercial/societal importance you would be recommended to become a full time Incubatee @ STBI.
